JOHNSON, Ohio — A 36-year-old Florida man has been charged with the murder of two children in a Florida county jail after authorities found a bottle of Viagra in his mouth.
A court in the city of Grand Baham said the 36-year-old, who is a Florida resident, was in possession of an expired prescription of Viagra, a medication used to treat erectile dysfunction and pulmonary hypertension.
A search of the bottle found a single-ingredient pill of the drug, which is also an impotence drug.
Officials said the pills were sold online, but were not dispensed.
The police said the pills were not expired or otherwise stored. The men were charged with the murders and possession of a expired prescription, and a further two charges were added.

In a press release, the state Attorney General’s Office said the two defendants “have been convicted and sentenced to life in prison for the murder of these children,” though the news release said no other details about the case were made public.

The U. S. Food and Drug Administration says the drugs are available without a prescription.

The Florida Attorney General’s Office said it is reviewing the case and is in the process of obtaining additional information from the families of those accused of the murders.
Tris County Attorney John J. Kelly said the family of the dead children has been notified and is being notified by the Department of Public Safety.
“They will be able to speak with their families immediately and report any adverse events,” Kelly said.
The family of the three-year-old girl who died was treated at the local Florida Medical Center and had surgery in Florida. She was brought to the hospital and taken to a state mental health facility.
